ACCREDITED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST, EXERCISE SCIENTIST, MASTERS (SPORT SCIENCE), DIPLOMA PILATES, PILATES REHABILITATION AND MAT CERTIFICATION

Background

Gabrielle commenced teaching functional exercises and rehabilitation for back injuries at the Sport University in Cologne, Germany, in 1992 whilst completing her Masters in Sport Science. In 2000 Gabrielle discovered the Pilates Method and in the ensuing years completed a Diploma of the Pilates Method, a post graduate course for Pilates Rehabilitation as well as Pilates Mat certification.

In 2012 Gabrielle completed her Australian Accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist. She has since undergone and continues to be dedicated to ongoing education for musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular and other health conditions.

Gabrielle’s special interest lies within musculoskeletal rehabilitation, muscular imbalances, improving functional movement, balance and gait dysfunction, neuromuscular and Parkinson’s disease as well as working with particular “floppy” body types. Gabrielle is accustomed to working with all ages starting from teenage to ‘never-to-old’.

Approach

Gabrielle incorporates evidence-based skills and knowledge from Anatomy and Physiology with Education and Pilates principles, utilizing a variety of equipment including Reformer, Pilates Wunda Chair, small accessories, balls, bands and rings as well as breathing and relaxation techniques. Gabrielle also excels in developing home exercise programs, adapting to your personal circumstances with whatever means are at hand.

Strengths

Gabrielle is known for her eye to detail and precision, adapting and developing each and every program according to your specific needs and capacity, short- and long-term goals. She is also very experienced working with particular body types i.e. hypermobile bodies, chronic pain conditions as well as complex cases requiring a multi-level biopsychosocial approach.

Gabrielle teaches both, group as well as individual classes including small group classes for Parkinson’s disease.
